SongBook+ can be downloaded for free from Apple's AppStore and is free for hobby musicians in the basic version.
The basic version already has all the features of the full version but is limited to 1 book with 15 songs. If you want to lift this restriction, you can unlock the full version through an in-app purchase.
In the full version, the number of songs is unlimited, and you can also create and use 15 books. Furthermore, you can create as many data subdirectories as you want with completely separate data and settings (multitenancy).
You can unlock the full version either in the form of a monthly or yearly automatically renewing subscription or through a one-time payment.
SongBook+ will then request the purchase receipt from Apple again and unlock the full version.
The subscription renews automatically unless renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The Apple user account will be charged for the renewal within the 24-hour period before the end of the current period with the same amount. Subscriptions can be managed by the user, and the automatic renewal can be turned off in the settings of the iTunes user account.
If you cancel the subscription and the already paid period has expired, SongBook+ will revert to the demo version.
If there are more than 15 songs in the database, the songs will no longer be displayed. Instead, a message will appear stating that there are too many songs for the demo version in the database.
No data will be deleted!
If you later re-subscribe or purchase the full version, the existing songs will be displayed again.
If you want to switch from a subscription to the purchased full version, cancel the subscription in your Apple user account and wait until the already paid period has expired and SongBook+ reverts to the demo version.
After that, you will find the entry to unlock the full version in the menu again and have all 3 options to choose from.
The one-time payment entitles you to use the full version indefinitely. After 5 years, however, you are not allowed to install updates, or the full version will expire with the update. SongBook+ will remind you beforehand so you can disable automatic app updates. This way, you can continue to use the full version indefinitely without additional payment, even after the 5 years have elapsed.
The introduction of the "5-year rule" for updates has upset some customers and led to criticism, while others find it fair and acceptable.
Compatibility with new operating system versions and devices requires continuous development and maintenance of SongBook+. This, along with free support, incurs ongoing costs.
Instead of reselling the app every few years with new features and name suffixes like "Pro" or "Ultra," we have decided on a different solution. Buyers of the full version receive at least 5 years of free updates. After these 5 years, the app can be used indefinitely and without further costs, provided no further updates are done.
If you have purchased the full version (not a subscription) and want to voluntarily support further development and support, there is an option for sponsorship.
Sponsorship is voluntary and does not offer any added value in the first 5 years of the full version. However, after these 5 years, it entitles you to further updates as long as the sponsorship is not canceled.
